At ABILITYPATH, we offer support services ranging

What is NDIS ?
NDIS or National Disability Insurance Scheme is reasonable and necessary funding that the Australian government provides to eligible people with permanent or significant disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.
To be eligible to receive individualized supports under the NDIS a person must meet certain requirements. These include that the person must:
• Meet the residency requirements (be an Australian citizen, permanent resident).
• Be under 65 years of age when the access request is made.
The NDIS also focuses on early intervention where getting early supports can reduce the impact of disability on you or your child.
Requests for access to NDIS individualized supports are made to the NDIA. People who join the NDIS are called ‘participants’.
How do NDIS and Disability Services Work?
The NDIS is a market-style system where government funding will not necessarily going directly to disability service providers, but instead to the participant or their, who can choose the providers they want. The scheme is predicated on the idea that users should be able to move from provider to provider, receiving the services they want, and how they want them – as long as these are “reasonable and necessary”.
How is Your Plan Managed?

Self-managed
The NDIA provides you with funding so you can access the supports.

Plan -managed funding
The NDIA will provide funding in your plan to pay for a Plan Manager who pays your providers for you, helps you keep track of funds and takes care of financial reporting for you.

NDIA-Managed funding
The NDIA pays your providers on your behalf.
